Home Health Care
Home Health Care is a series of services (Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Home Health Aide, and Nutritional Guidance) available to the patient in the home environment. Services are rendered on an intermittent basis.
Why Home Health Care?
- Permits patient to be in familiar surroundings
- Releases needed hospital beds
- Costs less than hospital care, and nursing home care
- Teaches patient and/or family to deal with patient care in the home
When Home Health Care?
When Patient –
- is basically confined to home and cannot function in community without assistance.
- is under physician's care
- will benefit from Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Home Health Aides.
Who Orders Home Health Care?
- The Attending Physician
Home Health Services Provided To Medicare and Medicaid Recipients
Medicare pays the full cost of each home care visit, provided that-
- The attending physician orders that service
- The patient is homebound due to illness or injury.
- The patient may benefit from the following –
- Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Home Health Aides.
